Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian nation must not hesitate to protect its sovereignty against various threats, President Joko Widodo stated.
"We must settle all problems quickly. This means that we must also draw a firm line. We must not hesitate to guard our sovereignty, waters, borders, and natural resources," the president noted in his state-of-the-nation address before members of the Regional Representative Council and the House of Representatives here on Wednesday.
The Indonesian people must fight against thefts of natural resources, sink ships caught fishing illegally to protect the local fishermens interests, and maintain territorial integrity for the benefit of the people, he said.
"We have the guts to dissolve Petral and to switch subsidy to productive activities. We firmly wage a war against drug dealers who are looking to destroy the future of our younger generation. We must also stand firm against any infiltration of ideology, such as extremism, radicalism, and terrorism, which destroy all aspects of our country," he emphasized.
The president affirmed that there is no hindrance in drawing a firm line, as the Indonesian nation has adhered to the Pancasila state ideology, 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and unity in diversity.
