JOHOR BAHRU-- Indonesia is offering 100,000 tourism packages to Batam and Bintan islands starting at RM59, inclusive of return ferry tickets, in an effort to increase the number of tourist arrivals at the two destinations during the coming school holidays.
Indonesian Tourism Ministry's Southeast Asia promotion and marketing director Rizki Handayani said until now over 10,000 packages had been sold, mostly to Singaporean tourists.
"This is the first time the ministry introduces these tourism packages. The promotion kicked off in August through a smart cooperation with ferry service operators and travel agencies in Batam and Bintan islands.
"The price of the packages, which ranged from RM59 to RM173, also include ferry tickets and activities for the tourists. This price is only being offered to Malaysian tourists, especially in Johor, and they can purchase their preferred package anytime between Monday and Thursday," she told reporters after the Cross Border Promotion programme, here today.
Rizki Handayani said the packages would benefit Indonesian tourism industry players in offering the best services at reasonable price.
