KUCHING, Sarawak state, The Malaysian and Indonesian governments today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to forge cooperation in the field of Islamic higher education.
The MoU was signed in conjunction with the 12th Malaysia-Indonesia Annual Leaders' Consultation here which was witnessed by Malaysian Prime Minister Mohd Najib Tun Razak and Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
At the signing, the Malaysian government was represented by officials from the Higher Education Ministry while Indonesia by its Ministry of Religious Affairs representatives.
The purpose of the MoU is to strengthen and foster friendly relations between the two countries in the field of Islamic higher education.
The partnership came about on realising the significance of Islamic higher education in contributing towards social, cultural and economic growth of both countries.
