Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has urged the Communication Forum for Sons and Daughters of Retired Military (FKPPI) to be at the forefront in putting a halt to teachings that contradict the state philosophy of Pancasila.
"I call on the FKPPI to be at the forefront to combat fake news that misleads the people, to eradicate the hatred that divides the people, and to fend off other teachings that are against Pancasila," President Jokowi remarked.
The president made the statement when he became the inspector of a ceremony of the gathering of State Defense Cadres of FKPPI at the National Monument Square here on Saturday.
Attending the occasion were former vice president Try Sutrisno, NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimujono, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, and Vice Governor of DKI Jakarta Sandiaga Uno.
On the occasion President Jokowi urged the FKPPIs big family to support the governments efforts to eradicate poverty, help improve the welfare of the poor, minimize inequality, and encourage greater interaction and cooperation nationwide.
"I feel proud to be here in the midst of the heirs of state defenders who paved the way for independence and defended the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI)," Jokowi emphasized.
He pointed out that the FKPPI has, since the last 39 years, remained committed to defending the NKRI and upholding Pancasila.
The president said Indonesia is a big and plural nation but still remains united, as it has Pancasila that unites the common steps in the life of the nation and state.
"All this is the result of the struggle of the founding fathers of the nation, the ranks of the armed forces of RI, TNI, Police, leaders, and the struggle of all Indonesian people, as the heirs of the nations struggle. I am certain that the FKPPI will continue the struggle of our predecessors," he stated.
