23 witnesses questioned in Garudas bribery case

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has questioned 23 witnesses in alleged bribery related to the procurement of aircraft and aircraft engine by Garuda Indonesia from Airbus S.A.S and Rolls-Royce Plc.

"Up till today, a total of 23 witnesses have been questioned in the case against two suspects, namely Emirsyah Satar and Soetikno Soedarjo," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said here on Monday.

The KPK also has questioned singer Istiningdiah Sugianto or Iis Sugianto who gained fame in the 1980s as a witness in the case against Emirsyah Satar.

"(During the questioning) the investigators asked for confirmation from her on the alleged sale of her house to the family of the suspect. The sale was made officially and in writing," he said.

The KPK has questioned the two suspects twice.

"Soetikno Soedarjo was questioned as a suspect on February 14, 2017 and January 10, 2018, while Emirsyah Satar was questioned as a suspect on February 17, 2017 and January 11, 2018," Febri said.

However, since they were named suspects on January 16, 2017, the KPK has not detained them.

Iis Sugianto told the press after undergoing questioning that the KPK had asked for confirmation about the sale of her house to one of the suspects.

"As a good citizen, I help the KPK to clarify the sale of my house to one of the suspects," she said.

She said she sold the house which is located in Pondok Indah elite housing complex in South Jakarta in 2000.
