Depok, W Java (ANTARA News) - The University of Indonesia (UI) has set a target to rank among the top 200 campuses in the world in 2019, Technology, Research, and Higher Education Minister Mohamad Nasir stated.
"My dream is to see University of Indonesia ranked among the top 200 universities in the world, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to be among the top 250, and Gadjah Mada University (UGM) among the top 300 in the world in 2019," he noted here on Thursday while delivering a speech on the campus laboratory grant offered by Honeywell.
He highlighted the importance of laboratory automation assistance for developing education in the country, especially in the face of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
"The United States is a country that has become a pioneer in the field of technology in the world. We expect this cooperation would facilitate our research development," he remarked.
Nasir also encouraged universities to cooperate with their other counterparts in the world to improve the level and quality of research.
The laboratory grant given by Honeywell uses the system and advanced system to control facilities at the Faculty of Engineering of UIs (FTUIs) buildings.
The laboratory will enable students and lecturers to simulate, learn, and develop smart building systems using modules and software.
"We feel proud for being the first university in Indonesia to have advanced facilities at the FTUI. We are also thankful to Honeywell for its commitment and support for developing the quality of technical education in Indonesia," Rector of UI Muhammad Anis remarked.
The facility aims to help students grasp the latest technology from the building automation industry and control systems. The FTUI campus has been declared as the first university in Indonesia to be equipped with the Honeywell Building Technologies.
