Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesias third president Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie is currently being treated at the Starnberg Clinic hospital in Germany for a leaky heart valve condition, according to his personal secretary Rubijanto.
"It is true that he is being treated for three days at the Starnberg Muenchen Clinic in Germany. We seek your prayers for Habibies speedy recovery," Rubijanto noted in Jakarta on Saturday.
Rubijanto explained that the health condition of the former Indonesian president began deteriorating on Tuesday (Feb 27). At the time, Habibie was experiencing difficulty in breathing and was then immediately examined by a doctor.
The team of doctors diagnosed Habibie with a leaky heart valve, resulting in a fluid buildup of 1.5 liters in the lungs.
The doctors have advised him to undergo heart surgery immediately. However, Habibie chose to undergo a medical procedure using more sophisticated methods.
"We appeal to all people of Indonesia to pray for the recovery of his health," Rubijanto remarked.
