Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chess and lawn bowl sports are able to boost medal possession for Indonesian contingent at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Jakarta on Wednesday, and placed Indonesia in sixth temporary position with a total of 23 gold, 29 silver and 34 bronze medals
The Indonesian chess team was managed to win six gold, three silver and three bronze medals in the standard chess category match.
The gold medal was won from class VI-B1 (totally blind) by individual men in the name of Hendi Wirawan and women by Debi Ariesta. Then, an individual female PI (daksa) class from Simanja Nasip Farta.
As for the teams donated from male class VI-B1, female VI-B1, and male PI class.
The Indonesian lawn bowl team contributed four gold, three silver and four bronze medals. Four gold medals each contributed by Dwi Widiantoro (single open mixed B1), Mella Windasari (female single B6), Suwondo (single open mixed B4), and Yulia Verawati (single open mixed B2).
Three silver medals were presented by Retnowati Yugia Sibarani (womens singles B6), Nimatul Fauziah (single open mixed B1), and Dian Kristiyaningsasih (single open mixed B3).
Then, four bronze medals were won by Sriyanti (female single B7), I Wayan Damai (male single B6), Asep Darmawan (male single B7), and Sudarno (male single B8).
Apart from chess and lawn bowl, the tennis branch contributed three gold medals, two silver medals and seven bronze medals. Gold medals were won by mixed pairs TT 6-8 Mohamad Rian Prahasta / Suwarti, mens doubles team Agus Sutanto / Tatok Hardiyanto TT class 4-5, and son pair David Jacobs / Komet Akbar from TT 10 class.
The Red-White para-athletic team contributed two gold medals, four silver medals and two bronze medals. Each gold medal was donated by Charisma Evi Tiarani at the womens T42 / T63 100 meter run and Putri Aulia on the womens 100 meters T13.
Nurtani Purba in the 73 kilogram class and Siti Mahmudah in the 79 kilogram class contributed an additional silver medal to the Asian Para Games weightlifting branch.
The mixed bowling team of tenpin Elsa Maris and Andrey contributed one silver medal in the fifth day match on the mixed doubles number TPB4.
Finally in the para-swimming branch, Indriani Syuci added a silver medal collection to the S14 butterfly 100 meters swimming number.
President Joko Widodo, in his visit to the arena of heavy-handed competition, predicts the Indonesian contingent will win 20 gold medals and exceed the target of 16 gold medals.
"What is clear is that I have given a target of 16 gold, entered the top 8. I think the gold will be more than 16, God willing, I believe, maybe more than 20 (gold medals)," President Joko Widodo said at Balai Sudirman, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
