Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy has stated that the Eighth meeting on ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Culture and Arts (AMCA) would promote the exchange of artists and experiences among ASEAN member countries in preserving culture.
"We will carry out many schemes, including exchange of artists and experiences, on how to preserve cultures and cultural heritage of both tangible and non-tangible ones," Muhadjir told reporters on the sidelines of the AMCA held in Yogyakarta on Wednesday.
The meeting also discussed the scheme to match various cultures and cultural heritages among ASEAN member countries.
Muhadjir remarked that AMCA also discussed means to promote ASEAN as a group of countries with advantages in the field of culture and a close proximity to each other.
"With a variety of cultures that we have in common, we will be able to become a regional force, especially in the cultural sector," he noted.
AMCA refers to the 31st ASEAN Summit Meeting in November 2017 when ASEAN leaders agreed to adopt the ASEAN Declaration on Culture of Prevention.
The ASEAN Declaration on Prevention Culture aims to create a society with peace, openness, awakening, health, and harmony.
