This year, Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Department is about to install three water treatment plants (IPA)s in Thousand Islands using sea water reverse osmosis (SWRO) technology.
" It is still in auction process"
Those IPAs will be built in Tidung Island with capacity 3 liters per second, Lancang Island with 1.5 liters per second, and Kelapa Island with 5 liters per second. Kelapa Island IPA's capacity is higher because it is also used to distribute water to Harapan Island.
"IPAs with SWRO technology is needed to fulfill clean water needs of Thousand Islands residents," said Teguh Hendarwan, Jakarta SDA Department, Tuesday (2/19).
IPAs in Pramuka Island and Panggang Island have been built last year but this year his side wants to increase its capacity with budget Rp 70 billion.
"It is still in auction process. But its construction is targeted to start in April and finish in the end of December," he conveyed.
Last year, SDA Department has built 4 SWRO IPAs in Kelapa Dua Island, Panggang Island, Pramuka Island, and Payung Island.
"We want to provide access to clean water for all Thousand Islands residents thus they can fulfill their daily needs," he asserted.
