Gerindra clarifies no political deal made between Prabowo and Jokowi

"God willing, Pak Prabowo has no political agreement at all. In the near future, Pak Prabowo will explain directly to the supporters," Rosiade remarked here on Monday.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Gerindra's Communication Board member, Andre Rosiade, confirmed no political agreement between party's General Chairman Prabowo Subianto and President-elect Joko Widodo (Jokowi) when they met and rode the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) train here, July 13.

"God willing, Pak Prabowo has no political agreement at all. In the near future, Pak Prabowo will explain directly to the supporters," Rosiade remarked here on Monday.

Rosiade stated that it was normal for the Prabowo-Sandi supporters to experience a sense of disappointment over the meeting.

Rosiade admitted to the presence of several pros and cons of the Prabowo-Sandi supporters, who responded to the meeting.

"Yes, of course, we understand there are pros and cons. That is a common thing," he pointed out.

Rosiade remarked that the two figures meeting up and riding the MRT train aimed at demonstrating maturity in the Indonesian democratic process and reducing polarization in the community.

Moreover, Rosiade highlighted the expectations of the release of some of the Prabowo-Sandi supporters, who are still being held, and the problems faced by those in trouble being solved.

Jokowi and Prabowo had earlier met at the Lebak Bulus MRT station in Jakarta and together boarded the MRT train to the Senayan MRT station also in Jakarta on Saturday (July 13).

Jokowi and Prabowo then walked from the Senayan MRT station to a restaurant at FX Plaza Sudirman in Senayan, South Jakarta.

Both agreed that the supporters were united, and the terms "cebong (tadpole)" for Jokowi's supporters and "kampret (bat)" for Prabowo's supporters must no longer be usedin the community. Related news: Jokowi, Prabowo meeting reflects Indonesian unity: Sri Mulyani
