Sri Mulyani to remain finance minister in Jokowi’s second-term cabinet

President Jokowi asked and assigned me to remain in the position of minister of finance.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Sri Mulyani Indrawati (Sri Mulyani) spoke of President Jokowi's request to her to continue holding her current finance minister's position for the second term of his administration during the 2019-2024 period.

"President Jokowi asked and assigned me to remain in the position of finance minister," Sri Mulyani stated after talks with the head of state at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday that lasted an hour and a half.

Sri Mulyani said that the offer she accepted was "an honor to perform for one more administrative period by enhancing the quality of human resources."

Sri Mulyani claimed she will engage more with other ministers in the economic field, such as the industry minister, trade minister, and minister of cooperatives and SMEs.

"We will be working hard on how to support policy instruments, as it concerns the fiscal sector and also finance, banking, and the capital market," she noted.

In terms of administrative duties in future, Sri Mulyani is keen to maintain the stability of Indonesia's economic tenacity along with boosting the policy for small and medium enterprises, particularly in the face of the current situation of global economic instability that poses a challenge.

"It was really an honor for me to help the president and vice president," she affirmed.

Sri Mulyani is the 12th national figure to come to the Presidential Palace at the invitation of Jokowi since Monday, October 21, in connection with the ministerial candidate positions.

Another 11 ministerial candidates, who came the day before, were Mahfud MD, Nadiem Makarim, Wishnutama, Erick Thohir, General Police Tito Karnavian, Airlangga Hartanto, Pratikno, Prabowo Subianto, Edhy Prabowo, Fajrul Rachman, and Nico Harjanto.

Jokowi is scheduled to announce the comprehensive list of his ministers of the Working Cabinet II on Wednesday, October 23, to be going straight to the ministerial inauguration.
