BNN’s raids on 108 nightclub visitors expose drug consumption

Hopefully, the raid we conducted this time would make them aware and bring about a realization to not consume drugs any longer.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Narcotics Agency's (BNN's) raids on two nightclubs in Jakarta on early Thursday brought to light the signs of drug consumption among 108 visitors.

The two nightclubs are Golden Crown located in Taman Sari, West Jakarta, and Venue in Kemang, South Jakarta.

At the Golden Crown nightclub, the BNN tested the urine samples of 184 visitors and found 107 of them had used drugs, BNN Deputy for the Combat Section Inspector General Arman Depari noted in a statement released on Thursday.

He remarked that the 107 Golden Crown visitors exhibiting signs of drug intake comprised 63 men and 44 women. They are believed to have consumed crystal methamphetamine and ecstasy pills.

The BNN Head Office and BNN Office in Jakarta also raided the Venue nightclub in Kemang, South Jakarta, where they tested the urine samples of 105 visitors, with one of them showing signs of consuming drugs.

All the nightclub visitors found to have consumed drugs were taken to the BNN Office in Jakarta to undergo further checks and follow an assessment course, he noted.

Depari remarked that the BNN offices in all provinces in the country are expected to follow suit as part of the efforts to curb the country's drug abuse rate, particularly in nightclubs.

"Hopefully, the raid we conducted this time would make them aware and bring about a realization to not consume drugs any longer," he added.
