Jakarta The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) stressed that economic recovery and policy reforms were the basis for fulfilling Indonesia's vision of becoming a developed nation by 2045.
"Recovery and policy reforms are the foundation for Indonesia becoming a developed nation by the year 2045," Head of the Center for State Revenue and Expenditure Budget Policy at the Ministry of Finance Ubaidi Socheh stated during an online discussion in Jakarta, Tuesday.
To this end, Socheh noted that the government will continue to conduct reforms to bolster the foundation despite reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic since a depressed economy will affect subsequent efforts.
"We are aware of the fact that we are currently in the midst of a pandemic and challenging economic conditions that have an impact on fiscal conditions. However, we harbor a dream of becoming a developed country by 2045," he affirmed.
Socheh highlighted the government’s persistent efforts to conduct various reforms as a whole, right from sectoral to fiscal, including pertaining to income, expenditure, financing, and other fields.
Moreover, Socheh noted that the extraordinary condition this year also called for an extraordinary response from the government, including by offering stimulus to restore economic activities.
"The reopening policy is a commitment to be able to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic and support economic recovery," he stated.
Furthermore, Socheh noted that economic recovery and policy reforms will continue to be accelerated next year as is apparent from the preparations and implementation of the 2021 State Budget.
"Thus, acceleration of economic recovery and reforms will greatly influence implementation of the 2021 State Budget," he added.
