Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating maritime affairs and investment minister, Monday, launched the "Proud of made in Indonesian Products" (Gernas BBI) 2021 movement at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Yogyakarta International Airport, and Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
During the online and offline launch event of the national movement in which 11 ministers participated, Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan urged Indonesians to purchase and use local products made by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
"I am also happy that we are all starting to not only talk but we also do really buy and use the products of our Indonesians," he affirmed while calling on the public to order and shop for Indonesian artisan products currently available on the online shopping platforms. The minister further appealed to government officials to become brand ambassadors for local products to support MSMEs.
"I am also starting the initiative in my family. We start from the family, children, and my grandchildren, who can shop. I have urged my wife to buy (products of our) MSMEs, as many of their products are good. We also just realized that several of our domestic products are good," Pandjaitan emphasized.
The minister encouraged domestic MSMEs to offer their products, both through online and offline mediums, such as at strategic locations at airports, railway stations, seaports, and shopping centers.
On the occasion, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi highlighted the need for supporting business continuity of local products by boosting the public’s purchasing power.
The campaign on domestic products is projected to encourage national branding of major products made in Indonesia, as it is expected to help create new industries that can boost economic growth, he remarked.
Sumadi informed that a similar campaign event will also be organized at the Gambir Railway Station, Central Jakarta, next week.
