Bandung, W Java The government has expedited construction work on the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) toll road, which is targeted to be completed in 2021.
"The Public Works and Public Housing Ministry said the toll road construction will be accelerated, it will be completed in 2021," head of the West Java Transportation Office, Hery Antasari, said here on Friday.
According to Antasari, the toll road project has been held up by the slow process of land clearing on Section VI.
The toll road, he said, will serve Kertajati Airport in Majalengka district and connect Bogor, Depok, Bekasi, Karawang, Purwakarta (Bodebekarpur), Bandung, and some parts of Central Java.
"Kertajati Airport is the second largest airport after Soekarno-Hatta. There are many regions that have yet (to be) connected (to the airport)," he said.
Earlier, West Java Governor M Ridwan Kamil had pledged his administration’s support to the acceleration of Cisumdawu toll road construction, as many people still prefer to use Soekarno-Hatta airport due to the absence of toll roads connecting Bandung and Kertajati airport.
The West Java government, he said, would optimize Kertajati Airport services despite several hindrances and the sluggish activity of the national aviation industry.
"Of course, we will try to maximize the service amidst these limitations. We do not want to remain silent. But the decision is in the hands of consumers; they will choose simple and comfortable services," he remarked.
