Jakarta (ANTARA) – Education and Culture Minister Nadiem Makarim issued Circular Number 1 of 2021 on the elimination of National Examinations (UN) and Equivalence Examinations and implementation of School Examinations during the COVID-19 emergency.
According to the circular, issued on February 1, 2021, the UN and equivalence examinations are not required for graduation or selection to enter a higher education level.
Students are declared to have graduated from an educator unit or program after completing a learning program during the COVID-19 pandemic as evidenced by a report issued every semester, obtaining a minimum good attitude or behavior score, and taking exams organized by the education unit.
In addition to exams held by educational units, vocational students can also take skills competency exams in accordance with statutory provisions. Meanwhile, class promotion is conducted in the form of portfolios, assignments, offline and online tests, and/or other forms of activities determined by the education unit.
End-of-semester exams for grade promotion are designed to encourage meaningful learning activities and annul the need to measure the completeness of the overall curriculum achievement.
New Student Admissions (PPDB) are conducted in accordance with Regulation of the Education and Culture Minister Number 1 of 2021 on PPDB in kindergarten, elementary, junior high school, high school, and vocational school.
The Ministry of Education and Culture also offers technical assistance to regions that need an online PPDB mechanism.
