Jakarta The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief, Inspector General Fadil Imran, confirmed that one of his men was named a suspect in a shooting case in which three people, including an Army soldier, lost their lives.
“The case has been processed. This morning, (the police) also received evidence based on the testimonies of witnesses and the result of case reconstruction. Moreover, this morning (the perpetrator) has been named a suspect,” Imran remarked during a press conference at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters on Thursday.
The inspector general remarked that one person sustained injuries and was being offered treatment at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta.
The Jakarta Metropolitan police chief pledged to take stern measures against the police officer, identified by his initials as chief brigadier CS, and to bring him to justice and to the National Police’s ethics council.
“We will take swift steps to get the suspect processed under the penal code. We will also process the case under the police’s code of ethics until he is declared unfit to become a National Police member,” Imran stated.
He later offered condolences and apologized to the relatives of those killed in the shooting case and the Jakarta Regional Military Command.
“As the chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, who is the superior of the suspect, I sincerely apologize to the public, the relatives of the victims and the Indonesian Army,” he remarked.
CS had allegedly shot dead three people, including an Army soldier, at RM Cafe in Cengkareng, West Jakarta.
