Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate on Thursday expressed his gratitude to local and international journalists for helping make the implementation of the G20 Summit on November 15–16, 2022, in Bali a success.
“I thank all journalist fellows, both from domestic and abroad, (including) the official press of their respective governments that have attended and actively participated during the implementation of the G20 Summit in Bali,” he remarked in Nusa Dua, Badung district, Bali province.
He lauded the work of the 2,346 journalists from 450 media organizations worldwide who covered the summit for the international community for two days straight.
Optimum services were provided to the journalists at the G20 Summit media center, including adequate digital infrastructure, accommodation services, meals and beverages, as well as relaxation areas, he said.
“All of those are well provided—even we also provided foot massage services. Thus, everyone (the journalists) is happy,” the minister remarked.
His ministry had prepared two floors at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua, for the media center for covering the implementation of the summit.
The journalists’ workspace was equipped with 192 computers and 192 local area network (LAN) connections.
The Communication and Informatics Ministry also provided a press conference room, which could accommodate 443 people, a studio for live broadcasts, and a studio for conducting interviews.
In addition, the media center also issued press releases in Indonesian and English languages as well as clean feed photos and videos, which could be used for broadcasting.
Earlier, while issuing a statement after a visit to Badung Market, Denpasar City, Bali Province, on Thursday morning, President Joko Widodo also lauded the participation of the media during the summit.
The 2022 G20 Summit culminated with the Bali Leaders’ Declaration, which comprised 52 paragraphs and touched upon the need for enforcing international laws and the multilateral system, handling economic crises through international cooperation, bolstering food and energy resilience, and adopting digital technology.
In addition, the G20 participants called for joint commitment for achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), addressing climate change, and strengthening the global healthcare sector.
