Bac Ninh – ‘Meet Bac Ninh – Japan’ Programme Strengthens Bilateral Ties

Bac Ninh – The northern province of Bac Ninh hosted the ‘Meet Bac Ninh – Japan’ programme on November 17, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations. The event aimed to bolster investment and collaboration between Bac Ninh and Japanese businesses.

According to Vietnam News Agency, speaking at the event, Nguyen Anh Tuan, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, noted Japan’s significant investment in Bac Ninh. Among 39 countries and territories investing in the province, Japan ranks prominently with 100 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects, primarily in electronic component manufacturing and mechanical engineering, accounting for nearly 7% of the total registered capital of over 1.67 billion USD.

Tuan highlighted Japan’s expertise in high-tech industries, including information and communication technology, digital technology, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and new materials. These areas align with Bac Ninh’s investment goals as it aims to become an industrial and high-tech hub. He expressed hope that the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) would continue to inform Japanese firms about the local business environment and encouraged more Japanese investors to consider Bac Ninh.

The event featured presentations by provincial leaders and representatives on Bac Ninh’s potential, strengths, and investment opportunities. Attendees discussed the operations of enterprises in the province’s industrial zones, particularly Japanese firms, and addressed queries about electricity supply for production, support for Japanese small firms, and high-quality workforce development.

Japanese business leaders acknowledged Bac Ninh’s attractive business environment and strategic location, making it a preferred manufacturing destination. Additionally, the event saw the donation of software accounts and alcohol concentration measuring devices by IOZ Company, a subsidiary of Moriga Company, to Bac Ninh. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Bac Ninh’s provincial People’s Committee and Nihon Toyo Group of Japan. The inauguration of the interim executive board of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association of Bac Ninh province and an MoU between the Vietnamese Association in the Kansai region and the provincial Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association were also key highlights of the programme.
