Bail Granted to Jeng Dokjik and Srisuwan with Travel Restrictions

Bangkok: The court has granted bail to Jeng Dokjik and Srisuwan with a surety of 600,000 baht each, under the condition that they do not leave the country. Both individuals are preparing to appeal their case, expressing confidence that the court will deliver justice.

According to Thai News Agency, Jeng Dokjik, also known as Mr. Yosawarit Chuaklom, expressed his respect for the court’s decision. He faces a six-year prison sentence due to the court’s determination of his status as a state official, a classification he disputes. Jeng Dokjik argues that his appointment was personal and not a state role, and he plans to contest his connections to other defendants in the appeal. He intends to prove his lack of involvement or benefits from the co-defendants, maintaining his innocence.

The verdicts handed down sentences for car mob cases in Pattaya and Bangkok in 2021, totaling 6 years and 4 months in prison. Jeng Dokjik secured temporary release using a 600,000 baht land title deed from Nonthaburi Province, with restrictions on international travel.

Jeng Dokjik’s lawyer noted that the court’s decision was heavily based on evidence from the victim’s side and law enforcement, suggesting the case lacked consideration of the defendant’s evidence. The legal team plans to gather further evidence for the appeal.

Regarding Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu, Jeng Dokjik clarified his limited visits and denied allegations related to land title possession, emphasizing his short acquaintance with the former abbot.

Mr. Srisuwan Janya, another key figure in the case, stated his intention to follow the legal process, expressing disappointment with the court’s reliance on police evidence. Confident in his team’s evidence, he plans to present it during the appeal. Srisuwan also secured bail with a 600,000 baht deposit and a land title deed from Bangkok, with similar travel restrictions.

The Director-General of the Rice Department, Natthakit Kongthip, commented on the case, attributing the outcome to karma and expressing indifference. He reiterated his lack of wrongdoing and commitment to his duties, despite past challenges and accusations.

Mr. Natthakit, when asked about the verdict, conveyed no emotional response, emphasizing his focus on fulfilling his responsibilities. He declined to comment on the individuals involved, leaving the matter to the judicial system.
