Belgian woman found dead in Mae Yen waterfall sands

The body of a Belgian woman was found submerged in the sand at Mae Yen Waterfall. It is believed that she went swimming and was hit by a flash flood. No wounds were found on the deceased’s body. Her friends revealed that the woman was a psychiatric patient before.

In the case of the Belgian woman who disappeared from her residence, several agencies searched and found her body at Mae Yen Pai Waterfall. Today, Pol. Lt. Col. Suwit Bunyaphen, Tourist Police Sub-Division 4, Division 2, Tourist Police Bureau 2, Mae Hong Son Tourist Police Station Chief, revealed that at approximately 12:40 p.m., the search team found the body of Miss CLOE, who died naked, submerged in the sand near the Mae Yen Waterfall spillway. The deceased’s clothes were found lying near the scene.

Previously, on 6 September 2024 at 2:40 p.m., officers from the Tourist Police Division 4, Division 2, Tourist Police Bureau 2 were notified that Miss. CLOE JOSETTE G. FERRARI, 28 years old, a Belgian national, a friend of the reporter who suffers
from mental illness, had disappeared from her residence and could not be contacted from 2:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on 6 September 2024. Initially, the reporter stated that when he found out that Miss. CLOE was missing, he went to look for her until he found her bicycle parked on the side of the road on the way to Mae Yen Waterfall, but she was not there, so he went to ask for help from the police to help find her.

The officers therefore coordinated with the Pai Police Station, soldiers from Sonbandit Camp, 7th Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, Pai District Administration, and Pai Samakkhi Rescue Foundation to search from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM, but they still could not find her. They therefore called off the search due to the weather conditions and the area being too dark to continue the search. They resumed the search today from 8:00 AM until approximately 12:40 PM when they found Miss CLOE dead, naked, submerged in the sand near the Mae Yen Waterfall spillway. From the autopsy of the Pai Police Station and the doctor at Pai Hospital, no wounds were found on the body of the deceased. It was seen that the deceased probably came to play in the water at the scene alone before drowning and dying without anyone seeing him and being able to help in time. Therefore, the body was sent for an autopsy according to the regulations and sent to Pai Hospital for an autopsy and the embassy was notified to contact the relatives to proceed with the next steps
