Bombing and Shooting Incident in Narathiwat Province Leaves Four Rangers Injured

Su-ngai padi: Assailants planted a bomb and shot four rangers while they were patrolling a route in Su-ngai Padi District, Narathiwat Province. At 7:53 a.m. on September 17, 2025, a bombing and subsequent shooting occurred in the area of Ban Bue Raeng, Village No. 3, To Deng Subdistrict, Su-ngai Padi District, Narathiwat Province, while volunteer soldiers from the 48th Special Task Force were patrolling to maintain safety along the route.

According to Thai News Agency, initially, there were four officers injured. Sergeant Major Piya Inthakosee received a chest injury from the force of the explosion while performing his duties at the gun turret. Volunteer Defense Corpsman Suriyawut Changkeawiandee was injured inside the vehicle and was unable to move out, requiring assistance from a rescue vehicle, although he remained conscious. Volunteer Defense Corpsman Tawan Sawangmekharat, the driver, received minor injuries and was conscious. Volunteer Defense Corpsman Thiraphong Phromphat, who was sitting inside the vehicle, also received minor injuries and was conscious.

All four officers were taken to Su-ngai Padi Hospital for further treatment and examination. Following the incident, commanders ordered increased security measures and tightened radio communications operations, particularly at bases, checkpoints, intercept points, government offices, convenience stores, and community areas, to prevent further incidents by insurgents. All personnel were instructed to prepare manpower, weapons, and communication equipment to ensure timely response. Crucially, they were urged not to underestimate the situation.
