Chaiyaphruek Road Expansion Completed to Ease Traffic in Nonthaburi

Nonthaburi: The Department of Rural Roads has successfully completed the expansion of Chaiyaphruek Road in Nonthaburi Province, increasing its capacity to 10 lanes. This development is part of a strategic initiative aimed at addressing traffic congestion and promoting sustainable growth in the Bangkok-Nonthaburi-Pathum Thani region.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Montri Dechasakulsom, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads, highlighted the importance of this expansion, noting that the road previously had six lanes and experienced heavy traffic with more than 40,000 vehicles per day. The expansion aligns with the policy of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, and is expected to alleviate congestion, especially during rush hours, while enhancing connectivity to Pathum Thani Province.

The project involved the construction of a two-lane parallel road in each direction from the ramp of Rama IV Bridge to the Ratchaphruek Road interchange. It also included the expansion of road surfaces by one lane in each direction from the Ratchaphruek Road interchange to Bang Kruai – Sai Noi Road. The total project spans a distance of 6.892 kilometers and features the construction of four bridges over Khlong Phra Udom and Khlong Bang Phum. Additional infrastructure improvements include the installation of footpaths, drainage systems, and lighting systems, with the entire project funded by a budget of 902 million baht.
