Chusak Clarifies Pheu Thai Party’s Strategy Amidst Speculations on Prime Ministerial Candidate

Bangkok: Chusak Sirinil, a key figure in the Pheu Thai Party, has addressed recent speculations and clarified the party’s current focus and future plans. He emphasized that the party is concentrating on preparing for an upcoming debate on government policy and denied that Pinthongtha Shinawatra Kunakornwong is being considered as a candidate for prime minister at this stage.

According to Thai News Agency, Chusak, who holds the position of party-list MP and deputy leader of the Pheu Thai Party, announced that a dedicated working group has been established to prepare for the parliamentary policy statement, which will be presented by the government led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. He mentioned that while the preparation is underway, the party is waiting to see the outcome of the statement. Chusak highlighted that this policy statement is expected to be concise, given its four-month duration, and would not necessitate prolonged reading sessions of two to three hours.

In reference to a recent meeting of Pheu Thai Party MPs focused on advancing the party’s agenda, Chusak noted that party leaders, including himself, have been engaged in daily discussions to refine the party’s strategic direction. This meeting followed reports of support from Khunying Potjaman Damapong, indicating ongoing efforts to solidify the party’s approach.

When questioned about the possibility of nominating Ms. Pinthongtha Shinawatra Kunakornwong as a prime ministerial candidate, Chusak made it clear that such deliberations have not yet reached that point. This statement comes amidst ongoing discussions and planning within the party as it navigates its future political strategies.
