Jakarta (ANTARA) – Buildings for four coordinating ministries in the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara will gradually become usable in August 2024, according to the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry.The buildings will be dedicated for the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, as well as Coordinating Ministry for Politics, Law, and Security. PUPR Ministry’s Cipta Karya Director General Diana Kusumastuti stated in Ancol, North Jakarta, on Saturday that the government is aiming to complete the construction of the four buildings by next year. The PUPR Ministry is developing the buildings by applying the principles of green and smart buildings, she remarked. pplying the green building principle means that the ministry is constructing the buildings while taking into account the importance of environmental sustainability by ensuring the efficient use of energy and water, utilizing eco-friendly materials, and adopting an effective waste management system. Meanwhile, the principle of smart building is being applied to ensure that the buildings will be fully connected with reliable internet networks and equipped with a smart locking system. The four buildings currently being developed constitute part of the basic infrastructure for the development of the new capital city. Considering the importance of the buildings, the PUPR Ministry is making all-out efforts to complete the construction by 2024, so that the process of capital relocation could begin immediately. The government has set August 17, 2024, as the day to commence the capital city relocation to Nusantara, coinciding with the 79th anniversary of the Independence Day of Indonesia. dministrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas earlier noted that in 2024, the government would initially transfer 1,800 civil servants to IKN. The relocation of the seat of government from Jakarta to IKN Nusantara has been stipulated by Law No. 3 of 2022. IKN Nusantara is being developed in parts of North Penajam Paser and Kutai Kartanegara districts in East Kalimantan Province. The development site lies on a land spanning 256,142 hectares, or equivalent to almost four times the land in Jakarta. Since being developed in a coastal area, Nusantara will also have a sea area of 68,189 hectares. The government is developing Nusantara with the aim of realizing equitable development and accelerating the country’s economic transformation.
