East Kalimantan provides Rp6-billion aid for Cianjur quake victims

Thus, this fund is from all residents of East Kalimantan

Bandung, West Java East Kalimantan Governor Isran Noor has disbursed funding worth Rp6 billion as assistance for residents affected by the earthquake that struck Cianjur District, West Java, in November.

The aid was compiled from the fund of the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, East Kalimantan People’s Representatives Council (DPRD), district and city governments of East Kalimantan, the DPRD of districts and cities in East Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan residents.

“Thus, this fund is from all residents of East Kalimantan,” Noor stated at the West Java Governor’s official residence here on Saturday.

The aid was symbolically handed by Noor to West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil.

He stated that the Rp6-billion aid that has been disbursed is only for the first phase. Later, funding of Rp15.5 billion will be disbursed to support Cianjur’s residents.

The East Kalimantan governor expressed hope that the fund would ease the burden of Cianjur residents affected by the earthquake.

Meanwhile, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said the losses experienced by Cianjur residents totaled over Rp1 trillion, while adding that majority of the damage was caused to people’s houses that had to be rebuilt.

Kamil noted that the emergency response period for the Cianjur earthquake was almost over. Thus, the handling will be focused on the rehabilitation of damages that required a large fund.

He further said that the aid from East Kalimantan will be focused on spending on mosques, village halls, irrigation, and bridges.

The West Java governor also noted that the aid from East Kalimantan is the largest as compared to the assistance from other regions.
