EGAT moves forward alongside Thais in every crisis, helping flood victims in Chiang Rai Province, delivering more than 3,000 relief bags.
Mr. Charan Khamngern, Deputy Governor of Electricity Generation, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), along with Mr. Thawatchai Samranwanich, Deputy Governor of Strategy, EGAT, Mr. Prasak Ngamsombak, Chiang Rai Provincial Energy Officer, and EGAT executives went to help flood victims in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province by delivering 1,000 relief bags and 1,000 packs of EGAT drinking water to alleviate the suffering of people in Mae Sai District, Phromwihan Temple, Piyaporn Village, Village No. 13, Ban Yang Community, Village No. 6, Ban Mueang Daeng, Village No. 1, Ban Wiang Hom, Village No. 4, and Ban Pa Sang.
In addition, more than 2,000 EGAT relief bags and drinking water will be gradually delivered as follows:
1) September 16, 2024, 500 relief bags and drinking water will be delivered to Mae Chan District.
2) September 16, 2024, 500 relief bags
and drinking water will be delivered to Mae Fah Luang District.
3) September 17, 2024, 1,000 relief bags and drinking water will be delivered to Mueang Chiang Rai District. We will continue to provide assistance.
EGAT has been closely monitoring and assessing the water situation with relevant agencies to plan appropriate water discharge for flood prevention and relief. As for the water situation at Bhumibol Dam in Tak Province as of September 14, 2024, the water volume in the reservoir was 6,843 million cubic meters, accounting for 51 percent of the reservoir capacity. It can still receive another 6,619 million cubic meters, accounting for 49 percent. EGAT has discharged the minimum amount of water to be sufficient for consumption and to maintain the ecosystem downstream of the dam at 3 million cubic meters per day.
At the Sirikit Dam in Uttaradit Province, the amount of water flowing into the reservoir has increased. The amount of water in the reservoir is 7,826, 18 percent. There is a plan to release wat
er of 14 million cubic meters per day.
