Bangkok: Ekanat Promphan, the party-list MP for the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, has clarified his decision to resign as secretary-general of the Palang Pracharath Party, stating that there is no conflict with the party leader, Pirapan Salirathavipak. He emphasized his ongoing respect for Pirapan and explained that differences of opinion regarding party roles led to his resignation.
According to Thai News Agency, Ekanat submitted his resignation from the party’s executive committee, citing diverging views with Pirapan. He acknowledged that these differences could hinder the party’s unity, especially with the upcoming elections. Ekanat highlighted the amicable relationship he maintains with Pirapan and his commitment to the party, despite stepping down from his leadership role.
Ekanat also addressed rumors about his political future and possible alignment with the Bhumjaithai Party. He confirmed ongoing discussions with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and expressed openness to collaborating with Bhumjaithai, given shared political stances. However, he remains a member of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party and has not made any definitive decisions regarding a potential move.
Despite stepping down from the executive committee, Ekanat stressed his dedication to the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party. He reiterated that his resignation was not an attempt to fracture the party but rather a response to internal differences. Ekanat assured that he would continue his political career with the party and remained focused on completing legislative tasks, such as the draft Factory Act.
Ekanat acknowledged the political dynamics within the party and the broader political landscape.
