Fancy steamed buns made from vegetables and fruits to increase sales

A young ceramic designer joins hands with her mother, the owner of the original Trang-style steamed bun recipe, to make fancy steamed buns in a variety of flavors, imitating the shapes of vegetables and fruits, making them look delicious.

Fancy steamed buns imitating vegetables and fruits, in the shape of purple yam, potato, mushroom, orange, and pumpkin, from the Dragon Belly Cafe, located on Kantang Road (opposite the Trang Chamber of Commerce), Thap Thiang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Trang Province. It is a homey-style cafe and also an art studio.

The signature menu of the Dragon Belly restaurant is the multi-flavored steamed buns. They are different from other steamed buns. The fillings are freshly made, cooked with quality ingredients, and high-quality spices. The dough is soft and not tough. In addition to the taste, the shape is beautiful and delicate. The focus is on shaping the buns to resemble the ingredients used to make the steamed bun fillings.

Ms. Natthakamon, 35 years old, said that her
mother inherited the traditional way of making buns from her grandfather. She made minced pork buns, Trang style, and sold them in Trang and nearby provinces. As for her, she graduated in ceramic design and wanted to work at home while doing the art she loved. So she started learning how to make buns using her mother’s traditional recipe, while also thinking of new bun recipes to meet the needs of her increasingly diverse customers.

Signature menus include steamed buns with three kinds of mushrooms, purple yam and salted egg, Japanese sweet potato, soybean and white sesame, custard orange and mandarin orange, Hong Kong roast pork with angkak, a Chinese herb, minced pork and boiled egg, minced pork and salted egg, stir-fried sticky rice with forgetting husband, and the newest menu item is the buns made from sticky rice forgetting husband. Customers can choose the toppings. Prices range from 17-35 baht per bun. There are both savory and sweet fillings and vegetarian fillings to choose from. If anyone is intere
