Flooding on main roads in the economic district of Nong Khai Province

Rain hits Nong Khai city in the middle of the night, flooding main roads in the economic district, while the Mekong River exceeds the water barrier for the second day, affecting 4 communities and thousands of households.

In Nong Khai Municipality, along the Mekong River for a distance of 6 kilometers, officials are urgently reinforcing the sandbag line starting from in front of Wat La Nong, Tambon Nai Mueang, for a distance of almost 2 kilometers, with a height of 50 centimeters to 1 meter, depending on the height of the area. Some of the sandbags have gone under the flood barrier, affecting 4 communities: Tai That Community, Soi 1-8, Mi Chai Community, Chom Mani Community, and Nong Bua Community, with approximately 1,000 households and a population of approximately 3,000 people. Mr. Alongkorn Ratchamethi, Deputy Mayor of Nong Khai Municipality, said that if based on the forecast of the Office of National Water Resources, the Mekong River will reach its highest point at noon tomorrow at a level of 13 meters
86 centimeters. After that, the water level will gradually decrease.

Meanwhile, while people were hoping that the Mekong River would drop, it turned out that last night, heavy rain fell, more than 100 millimeters, for almost 3 hours, causing flooding on the economic road, Prachaksilpakom. Various businesses, schools, and government offices were flooded. Officials are rushing to drain the water out of the Mekong River, which is expected to take up to 6 hours.
