Government Encourages Wearing Local Identity Pattern Pants for Songkran Festival 2025

Bangkok: The government invites people to wear pants with “local identity patterns” during the Songkran Festival 2025 to showcase Thai culture and promote tourism.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anukul Prueksanusak, Deputy Government Spokesperson, announced the initiative as a means to promote local identity and highlight the uniqueness of Thai culture. The government aims to support local wisdom and craftsmanship, encouraging the youth to take pride in their heritage while fostering new designers from various provinces.

The initiative includes showcasing examples of local identity patterns from different regions. The Central region features Lopburi with monkey and sunflower patterns, Nakhon Pathom’s fighting fish pants, and Kanchanaburi’s Pla Yisok pants, among others. The Northern region highlights Chiang Rai’s identity pants, Lampang’s chicken and charming horse patterns, and Sukhothai’s Sangkhalok fish pattern pants.

In the Eastern region, standout patterns include Chachoengsao’s fighting fish pants, Samut Prakan’s unique designs, and Chonburi’s shark and capybara patterns. The Northeastern region offers distinctive designs such as Ubon Ratchathani’s Pha Taem pattern and Loei’s ‘Mak Muan’ pants. The Southern region showcases Ranong’s cashew pants, Phuket’s pineapple pattern, and Krabi’s Soft Power pants.
