East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa lauded the Puger Marine Fisheries Vocational School in Jember District for its extensive connections with the business world and the working industry, both at home and abroad.
“I encourage this achievement to be maintained and improved because the link and match is important in the working industry. Moreover, I see that the connectivity of the vocational alumni is already extensive,” Parawansa noted during her visit to the vocational school in Jember District on Monday.
The governor felt proud to witness the progress of the Vocational High School as the graduates of the Marine Fisheries Vocational School were widely accepted to work abroad, such as in Japan and South Korea.
“Indeed, this achievement has gone through a long process. I am sure there must be measurable milestones prepared by schools and Islamic boarding schools, especially since Vocational High School is a reference for building the character profile of Pancasila students,” she noted.
Parawansa expressed optimism that cadet students, who have entered the world of work and industry, will continue to uphold the character of Pancasila and always harbor the spirit to maintain the integrity and unity of the Republic of Indonesia.
“I am sure wherever you work, you will not forget your character. Professionalism and Pancasila characteristics must go along together,” Parawansa remarked.
While addressing hundreds of students present there, the governor said that the East Java Provincial Education Service had collaborated with State Universities to provide a special quota for vocational school graduates for the Vocational Faculty to boost academic achievement.
“There is a vocational faculty at Airlangga University and November 10 Institute of Technology (ITS) that provide quota for vocational graduates. The East Java Provincial Government is striving to build connectivity for vocational students keen to continue to college, especially in vocational,” she remarked.
Meanwhile, Head of the Puger Fisheries and Marine Vocational School Kuntjoro Basuki explained that currently, the school has five excellent expertise competencies and is focused on the maritime field.
The five superior expertise competencies are Fishing Vessel Nautics, Fishery Product Processing Agritechnology, Fishing Vessel Engineering, Fishery Agribusiness, and Ship Construction Engineering.
“This vocational school is the only best practice for imbibing the character of Pancasila among students by the Director General of Vocational Studies. We have been traveling for four months to several vocational schools in Indonesia with the Director General of Vocational Education to set an example,” he added.
