Half-Half Plus Program Sees Over 1.6 Million Participants and 350 Million Baht in Sales on Launch Day

Bangkok: The initial day of the “Half-Half Plus” program witnessed substantial engagement, with over 1.6 million participants generating more than 350 million baht in sales within the first five hours.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphas highlighted the vibrant response to the “Kon La Khrueng Plus” program. Within the first hour of its launch, sales nationwide reached 35 million baht, and by 11:00 a.m., the total sales had surged to over 350 million baht. This initiative involved approximately 200,000 merchants, facilitated by a digital system that provides real-time data and spending analysis. Dr. Ekniti expressed optimism that the program would stimulate the economy more than anticipated and help avoid stagnation in the fourth quarter.

The government is swiftly designing Phase 2 of the “Kon La Khrueng Plus” project, with initial rights prioritized for individuals who missed the first phase. Additionally, merchants are encouraged to engage in skill enhancement projects to reduce costs and incorporate AI. The budget considerations for this phase are underway, ensuring fiscal discipline.

Dr. Ekniti addressed issues for merchants pending approval due to district-level complications, assuring coordination with the Ministry of Interior for expedited resolution. Merchants still have the opportunity to register for the project until December 19, 2026.

Regarding concerns about cash exchange rights sales, Dr. Ekniti stated the Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the police, is actively preventing fraudulent activities. He emphasized the government’s commitment to prosecuting any exploitation of public funds, underscoring the Prime Minister’s directive to address such matters comprehensively.
