Uthai thani: A sad family has contacted the body of their two-month-old daughter to be sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death after a pitbull dragged her and bit her head while her mother was collecting scraps from a rice mill. The owner suspects the dog mistook it for a toy.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chatmongkol Suwannaset, a disaster relief officer in Uthai Thani Province, along with the mother of two-month-old Kanyaphat, who died from a pitbull bite, and relatives, traveled to Nong Chang Hospital in Uthai Thani Province to receive the body. The body was then sent for a more detailed autopsy at Sawan Pracharak Hospital in Nakhon Sawan Province to determine the exact cause of death.
The incident occurred at 3:00 PM yesterday in the garage of a house in Village No. 15, Ban Rong Si Mai, Thung Pho Subdistrict, Nong Chang District, Uthai Thani Province. Upon arrival, officials found the body of a young child near a drainage ditch. The homeowner had taken the child to the hospital earlier,
but he later died. Bloodstains and drag marks extending approximately 6 meters to the drainage ditch were also found. A baby stroller and three toys stained with blood were also found. “Big,” a two-year-old pit bull, was still wandering around the house, preventing officials from leaving the car and requiring the homeowner and dog to be confined. The homeowner suspects the dog mistook it for a toy.
The mother recounted the incident, saying that she works as a junk dealer. On the day of the incident, she and her father went to collect junk at a house. They asked the homeowner if the dog was aggressive. The homeowner confirmed that it did not bite, so they went back to collect the items as usual. At that moment, she noticed a flat tire on her car. Her father told her to get her granddaughter out of the car so he could find a jack to lift the car. She then carried her daughter into the stroller, with her eldest son watching over her. Shortly after, the homeowner brought the dog out. The dog sniffed her, then wa
lked straight to the stroller where her daughter was sleeping. Although the owner tried to push the dog away, it shook itself off. The unexpected happened when the dog bit her daughter’s head hard and dragged her to a drainage ditch right before her eyes. The daughter had recently been vaccinated and had a slight fever, causing her to fall asleep soundly in the stroller. Compensation has not been discussed, but she doesn’t really want the money; she wants her daughter’s life back.
