JAKARTA, Indonesia confirmed 59,384 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, raising its tally of infections to 5,149,021, the country’s health ministry said.

According to the ministry, the death toll from COVID-19 in the country rose by 158 to 146,202, while 34,699 more people recovered during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,481,909.

As the Indonesian government is accelerating its national vaccination programmes to curb the spread of the virus, more than 189.53 million people have received their first doses of the vaccines, while over 139.94 million have taken the second doses.

Aiming to fully vaccinate 208.2 million people in the country, the government has administered over 337.80 million doses, including the third booster jabs.
