Indonesia’s daily COVID-19 deaths hit record 1,566

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia reported 1,566 COVID-19-related deaths on Friday, bringing the total death toll recorded in the country so far to 80,598, according to data from the Task Force for COVID-19 Handling.

The nation also added 49,071 daily cases and 38,988 recoveries. Since the start of the pandemic in Indonesia in March, 2020, the total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the country has reached 3,082,410, while total recoveries have been recorded at 2,431,911.

On Friday, the number of active cases increased by 8,517, bringing the total to 569,901, while the number of suspected cases reached 267,866.

West Java province contributed the highest number of fresh cases at 8,925, followed by Jakarta (8,033), East Java (6,912), Central Java (4,498), Banten (2,626), and North Sumatra (1,521).

Meanwhile, the highest number of recoveries were reported in DKI Jakarta (14,442), followed by West Java (6,875), Central Java (4,095), East Java (4,085), and DI Yogyakarta (976).

Cumulatively, Jakarta recorded the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at 778,520, followed by West Java (556,180), Central Java (343,350), East Java (266,641), East Kalimantan (103,062), Yogyakarta (101,005), Banten (100,611), and Riau (85,860).

Cumulative data also shows that Jakarta saw the highest number of recoveries at 687,838, followed by West Java (419,513), Central Java (267,668), East Java (194,460), East Kalimantan (81,861), Riau (75,029), and Yogyakarta (67,961).
