Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has not disturbed Indonesia’s export trade transactions, the Trade Ministry’s Director General of National Export Development, Didi Sumedi, stated.”I have not seen any disturbances because the location and also other factors do not interfere with logistics for exports,” he told ANTARA at the 38th Indonesia Trade Expo in Tangerang, Banten, on Friday.
Sumedi remarked that the conflict, so far, has no impact on the logistics of exports from Indonesia to other countries.
However, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine did disrupt Indonesia’s exports, as the warring region is the channel for Indonesia’s exported products to several countries.
He said, Indonesia’s export value had reached US$291 billion in 2022, an increase of 26.03 percent from 2021.
The government also targets an increase of 3.2 percent in exports in 2023, he noted.
“We set a target of a 3.2-percent increase in the Government Work Plan,” he remarked.
Sumedi noted that to increase exports, the government has prepared several strategies, such as the optimization of Indonesian trade representatives abroad to help elevate exports to export-level countries and increase the export of non-oil and gas products.
The next step is forming a quick reaction team that integrates the Ministry of Trade’s internal team with the Trade Representatives.
The government has also prepared an action plan that will be evaluated periodically and keeps improving coordination with Indonesian Embassies, other ministries and institutions, local governments, and business actors.
Moreover, Sumedi said, the government conducts digital promotion, improves market intelligence, and optimizes the implementation of the free trade agreement and preferential trade agreement with partner countries to increase exports.
The ministry also bolsters the reciprocal trade mechanism with potential countries, promotes trade policies, and explains them in a simple narrative to business actors.
Furthermore, the government offers assistance to business actors and strengthens trade diplomacy with destination countries.
