A Grade 11 female student asked for the price of a medicine bag, hoping to save up money to buy one for herself when she went to work as a rescue volunteer. She met a kind-hearted pharmacist who gave her the bag for free, hoping to encourage the girl’s good intentions.
This heart-healing clip was taken at a drugstore in Wang Chao Municipality Market, Wang Chao District, Tak Province, last Friday evening. After the clip was released, it became a trending topic on social media.
Pharmacist Wanwilasdee Korakunaphat, or Ae, the owner of the drugstore, said that at first, the young woman in the clip walked into the shop with her friend, who was sick, to buy medicine. During that time, she noticed that the young woman talked to her friend in a friendly tone, asking about her symptoms, which impressed her. Then the young woman asked about the price of the medicine bag, which cost around 400 baht, on the shelf, saying that she would go back to save up money to buy it. She asked and talked to her until she found out
that the young woman was a volunteer rescuer in Kosamphi District, Kamphaeng Phet Province, which was around 7-8 kilometers away. Because she wanted to promote good deeds and make her dream come true, she gave the bag to the young woman for free. As you can see in the clip, the young woman was very excited and happy. She hoped that the young woman would grow up to have a beautiful future like her heart.
Later, the reporter traveled to her home in Kosamphi Nakhon District, Kamphaeng Phet Province, and met the female student in the clip, Ms. Kotchakorn Sonwichaen, or Nong May, 17 years old, a Mathayom 5 student at Kosamphi Witthaya School. She has been a volunteer for the Sawang Kamphaeng Phet Rescue Foundation, Kosamphi Nakhon branch, since Mathayom 3. She wanted to have a personal medicine bag to use when helping people in need. When she found out that each bag cost 400 baht, she planned to come back and save up her pocket money to go to school. She was very happy that the owner of the drugstore gave it to h
er for free. She promised to repay the kind-hearted adult with good deeds and to continue doing good for society.
Mr. Suebsakun Khaikanchanasak, May’s grandfather, said that he has raised his granddaughter since she was little. Her parents separated when she was 8 months old. Her granddaughter was a good girl, studied hard, was compassionate, kind, and loved animals. When she grew up, she spent her free time as a rescue volunteer helping society. When he learned that society admired his granddaughter, he felt proud.
Mr. Kom Singhruang, the village headman, said that he had seen Nong May since she was a child. She is a good youth with a public-mindedness. She is a good example for the new generation who use their free time or intention to do good deeds to benefit others without expecting anything in return. When we are confident in doing good deeds, goodness will appear, just like the owner of the drugstore who saw Nong May’s kind heart and fulfilled her dream of doing good deeds.
