Bangkok: The Lawyers Council of Thailand has unequivocally condemned the recent violence against a lawyer, urging relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and hold the perpetrators accountable.
According to Thai News Agency, the Lawyers Council of Thailand under Royal Patronage expressed its deep sorrow over the incident that took place on 1 November 2014. A lawyer, while addressing a press conference at the Central Investigation Bureau, was subjected to violence. The council emphasized that such acts are unacceptable, particularly against legal professionals who play a crucial role in safeguarding rights, freedoms, and justice within society.
The council has called for strict adherence to legal procedures in addressing the incident, highlighting that differences in opinion do not justify any form of violence, including physical assault or verbal abuse. It reaffirmed the legal right of lawyers to perform their duties in a safe environment. The council is committed to protecting these rights
