AYUTTHAYA: “Warawut” from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has initiated assistance for a 15-year-old girl in Ayutthaya, facing financial hardships due to her family’s dire circumstances, to pursue her dream of higher education.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, stated that the Center for Accelerated Welfare Management (CWMS) dispatched officers from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province in collaboration with Lumpli Subdistrict Administrative Organization and community leaders, to assess the situation. The investigation revealed that the girl, a Mathayom 3 student, lives in a zinc-walled, electricity-less shack with her family. Her father, a car repairman, earns an inconsistent income due to drug addiction, while her mother is unemployed, relying on government welfare. The family’s income is insufficient to support the girl’s educational aspirations, causing frequent school absences.
The SSO team in Phra Nakhon Si Ayut
thaya Province has scheduled a meeting with the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Primary Educational Service Area Office, Area 1, Lumpli Subdistrict Administrative Organization, and community leaders on November 4, 2024. This meeting aims to devise both immediate and long-term solutions to support the girl’s education, ensuring she can continue her studies and potentially support her family in the future.
For those aware of children and youths facing similar social challenges, the Center for Accelerated Public Welfare Management (CWMS) of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security offers a 24-hour hotline at 1300 for assistance.
