– Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen on June 12 received member of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) Central Committee and First Secretary of the Havana Party Committee Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, who is on a Vietnam visit.

Nen stressed that the visit by the Havana delegation will contribute to boosting the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba in general, and the two cities in particular. Read full story

– Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son hosted a reception in Hanoi on June 12 for Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand Sarun Charoensuwan, who is in Vietnam for a visit and co-chairing the 9th Vietnam-Thailand political consultation.

Son spoke highly of the strong and intensive development of the enhanced strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand, especially in politics, diplomacy, trade and investment. Read full story

– Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien on June 12 received South African Defence Attaché Colonel Eugene Dudley, who came to say goodbye before ending his working term in Vietnam.

Chien said Dudley’s contributions in his post and as the head of the military attaché delegation of foreign countries in Vietnam have served the promotion of the Vietnam-South Africa defence cooperation and effective implementation of activities by the delegation. Read full story

– The Vietnam Report JSC has announced a list of top 10 most reputable information and communications technology (ICT) companies in Vietnam in 2023, with Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) and FPT Corporation standing on leading places.

Other companies in the list include Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), MobiFone Telecoms Corporation (MobiFone), CMC Corporation (CMC), Telecommunication Services Corporations (VNPT-Vinaphone), Vietnam Technology & Telecommunication JSC, Hanel Communications JSC, Vietnam Maritime Communication and Electronics Single Member Limited, and Tien Phat Technology Corporation. – Vietnam’s is seeking investment in clean energy as part of its scheme to develop a carbon market in order to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

Speaking at a recent meeting in HCM City, Karl Van den Bossche, Belgian ambassador to Vietnam, said Vietnam has potential to attract investment in clean energy which has an important role in achieving net zero emissions. Read full story

– Vietnamese people are optimistic about the improvement of their personal finances but the vast majority are anxious about how they will manage their health, a Manulife survey has revealed.

According to the survey, more than half of respondents expect to see their personal income increase on average 17% in 2023. This will help them achieve their financial goals, the principle of which is saving for retirement (40%), followed by saving for healthcare and medical costs (37%), children’s education (32%) and saving for a new home (30%). – A total of 27 people had been arrested by 18:30 on June 12 for their involvement in the June 11 gun attacks on the headquarters of the People’s Committees of Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur communes, including the communes’ police stations, in Cu Kuin district of the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Public Security Lieut. Gen To An Xo said competent forces have also seized a number of military weapons, including CKC rifles. They are searching for the remaining suspects and investigating the case./. Read full story
