Nattapong’ sees the results of the Nida poll supporting ‘Paethongtarn’ as the number one, wants her to be the prime minister, not an obstacle that will discourage him, says from now on he will approach the people, does not believe the party gained popularity because of ‘Pita’, assesses it as a result of ‘dissolving the party’ more than anything.
Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, MP for the party list and leader of the Prachachon Party, gave an interview about the results of the Nida Poll on political popularity for the third quarter. He said that he would support Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, to come in first place and Mr. Nattapong to come in third place. Is there any meaning? The poll results are normal and we are aware of them in order to improve our work and continue working in the area. He thinks that it is not an obstacle or discouragement in any way. The political context in the past has had both ups and downs, including which agency conducted the survey. He believes that the only way t
o make our popularity more stable and better until the 2027 election is to work in the area to the fullest.
As for the opposition’s debate in the parliament, especially on Myanmar, whether it affects the popularity or not, Mr. Nattapong said it is not related. The party’s straightforward explanation to the people, understanding, and working closely with the people in the area are more important.
What factors have caused the party’s popularity to decline? Mr. Nattapong said that the political situation that led to the dissolution of the party in the past must be accepted as a fact that in many areas that he went to look at, if there were no elections or active fieldwork, the villagers would not have received the news. Some people still did not know that he had become the leader of the Prachachon Party. Sometimes the villagers did not follow the news that much. Therefore, the poll results that have come out, if it is about our past political situation, now it is about reaching out to the people and working in
the area to make them widely informed.
Is the popularity coming from Mr. Pita Limjaroenrat, the former leader of the Move Forward Party? Mr. Nattapong stated that he did not believe that. He thought that he was ready to move forward with his work and prove his work for another 2 years and believed that in the next election, the Prachachon Party would receive support from the people. But before reaching that point, he must confirm that we would not expect the people to come with us if we did not have any results. As the party leader, he must communicate to all party members that he would move forward with his work and would definitely not abandon the area.
Next week, the opposition leader will be appointed. Mr. Nattapong stated that the opposition leader will continue to actively monitor the government as usual, which is a duty in the parliament. However, he will use some of his time, which is an important part, to visit the people all over the country. He will try to organize a forum for the opposition lead
er to meet the people and will travel to various regions. He will not neglect his duties in the parliament. He will still participate in the budget debate and the no-confidence debate as usual.
Mr. Natthaphong continued that the no-confidence debate is currently collecting information from many aspects, but the information may not be disclosed yet. However, he confirmed that there are many cases that we have already collected, which is highly possible that a motion may be submitted around the beginning of next year, within the first quarter, with many issues and policies. However, what is interesting is the opening of a general debate under Section 152 without a vote. There has been discussion within the party, which is in the process of requesting a conclusion from the MP meeting, and it is believed that it may be submitted before the no-confidence debate.
