Dsseldorf: D©sir©e Duet scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain thrashed Inter Milan 5-0 to win their first ever UEFA Champions League trophy.
According to Thai News Agency, the UEFA Champions League final took place at Allianz Arena in Germany, where Paris Saint-Germain, the French Ligue 1 champions, faced off against Inter Milan, the Italian Serie A runner-up. The match began with a strong showing from PSG, as Desire Dou assisted Achraf Hakimi in the 12th minute to score against his former team, setting the tone for a 1-0 lead. Just eight minutes later, Dou’s shot deflected off Federico Dimarco into the goal, extending PSG’s lead to 2-0. The second half saw Dou scoring again in the 63rd minute, bringing the score to 3-0. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia added another goal in the 73rd minute, and substitute Sennie Mayulu netted the final goal in the 87th minute, sealing a 5-0 victory for PSG. This triumph marked PSG’s first UEFA Champions League title, making them the second French club to achieve this feat after Olympique Marseille in 1993, and culminating a season with four trophies.
Tens of thousands of PSG supporters gathered at the Parc des Princes stadium to watch the match on giant screens and later celebrated along the Champs-Elysees in Paris. The celebrations, however, were marred by some disturbances as fans set off fireworks and threw bottles and smoke bombs at police officers, necessitating police intervention. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Luis Enrique, PSG’s 55-year-old Spanish coach, expressed his joy and satisfaction after leading the team to this historic victory. He recalled his commitment from the first day to guide PSG to a Champions League win, a milestone the club had never reached before. He praised the players, highlighting Ousmane Dembele’s relentless pressure on the opponents. Enrique looked forward to bringing the trophy back to Paris, emphasizing the happiness it brought to the fans.
Inter Milan’s coach Simone Inzaghi acknowledged PSG’s superior performance and their deserved victory. Despite the loss, he expressed pride in his team and gratitude to his players for their efforts throughout the competition.
