Narathiwat: Attackers launched an assault on the Chanae Police Station in Narathiwat Province, resulting in the death of one police officer and the serious injury of another.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place at 8:39 a.m. when an unknown number of assailants armed with long guns opened fire on the Chanae Police Station located in Chanae District, Narathiwat Province. The attackers fired approximately 20-30 rounds at the station. In response, police officers, soldiers, and volunteer defense corps engaged in a firefight with the attackers for about 15 minutes, forcing them to retreat.

The attack claimed the life of Pol.Sgt.Maj. Abdulleh Makasen, a 30-year-old sergeant major, who was fatally shot in the head and right chest. Another officer, Pol.Sgt.Maj. Jessada Phromrat, sustained a serious injury with a gunshot wound to the right chest, which exited through the back. He was transported to Chana Hospital for medical treatment. In the aftermath of the attack, officers have been deployed to surround the area in an effort to capture the perpetrators.
