Narathiwat: Attackers launched an assault on the Chanae Police Station in Narathiwat Province, resulting in the death of one police officer and the serious injury of another.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at 8:39 a.m. when an unknown number of assailants armed with long guns opened fire on the Chanae Police Station in Chanae District. The attackers fired approximately 20-30 rounds at the station. In response, police officers, soldiers, and members of the volunteer defense corps engaged the attackers, exchanging gunfire for around 15 minutes before the assailants retreated.
The attack resulted in the death of Pol.Sgt.Maj. Abdulleh Makasen, a 30-year-old sergeant major, who was fatally shot in the head and right chest. Another officer, Pol.Sgt.Maj. Jessada Phromrat, sustained serious injuries from a gunshot wound to the right chest, with the bullet exiting through his back. He was taken to Chana Hospital for medical treatment. In the aftermath, authorities have mobilized to secure the area and are actively pursuing the perpetrators.
