Hence, it is our hope to invite more (parties), so that Indonesian restaurants can be opened in the next two or three years Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) – As many as 1,300 restaurants in various countries worldwide carry the concept of “Indonesia Spice Up The World”, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno stated.”Currently, 1,300 restaurants worldwide are carrying the theme of ‘Indonesia Spice Up The World,’ so we still have 2,700 more to cover. Tonight, we will add one more, so we still need 2,699 more (to reach the target),” Uno noted after the launch of Indonesia Spice Up The World and Rumah Makan Nusantara at the Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, on Friday (Mar 17) evening. The government has targeted to establish four thousand restaurants that carry the concept of”Indonesia Spice Up The World” by 2024. ccording to the minister, there is still much that needs to be encouraged to further introduce the concept of “Indonesia Spice Up The World” to all corners of the world. ccording to Uno, the Government of Indonesia is keen that this concept becomes a movement that it will facilitate, but the private sector, community, business world, and diaspora are expected to participate in developing it. “Hence, it is our hope to invite more (parties), so that Indonesian restaurants can be opened in the next two or three years,” he affirmed. Uno said promotions and campaigns through social media and the strength of the diaspora were a strategy to attract more parties to open restaurants carrying the concept of “Indonesia Spice Up The World” in various parts of the world. The minister was glad since Rumah Makan Nusantara, which will start operating in August 2023, can become a restaurant that also serves Indonesian specialties. More than 20 typical Indonesian menus were presented on the launch night, and the nuances offered were so uniquely Indonesian due to the strains of Indonesian musicians’ songs being played. Uno also lauded the choice of the name Nusantara that is the name of the new Indonesian State Capital. This restaurant is expected to truly represent Indonesia and Malaysia as allied countries. “We share the same roots, and the spices we use in our food are similar. Hence, we hope to introduce it to more countries,” Uno remarked. Senior General Manager at Sunway Hotels and Resorts, Wilfred Yeo Cha, stated that Sunway Putra Hotel had accepted the challenge to become one of the four thousand new Indonesian restaurants overseas as part of the Indonesia Spice Up The World campaign. He said that in Malaysia, Rumah Makan Nusantara is the first and only authentic Indonesian restaurant located in a hotel. He noted that the restaurant, which will open in the third quarter of 2023, will have 150 seats and serve various types of Indonesian ala carte dishes, including Mie Tek-tek, Nasi Goreng Kambing(mutton fried rice) a la Kebon Sirih, Madura satay, Padang satay, ketoprak and Soto Betawi, tongseng. “Guests will feel like they are in Indonesia without needing a passport to travel,” he stated.
