Bangkok: Suan Dusit Poll releases Thai political index for October 2024, finds Prime Minister Paethongtarn’s performance is most outstanding, while the opposition’s score decreases.

The survey identified Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister and leader of the Pheu Thai Party, as the government politician with the most prominent role this month, with 52.81 percent acknowledgment. She was followed by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, at 26.40 percent, and Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, at 20.79 per
cent.

Moreover, 23.30 percent supported the government’s assistance in a school bus fire incident.
For the opposition, 49.76 percent of the public appreciated their monitoring of government work, 26 percent favored their efforts calling for justice in Tak Bai, and 24.24 percent supported their debates on electricity concession and traffic congestion fees.
The Thai Political Index survey for October 2024 indicated a decline in the opposition’s performance
score from 5.41 points in September to 5.34 points out of 10. The lowest-scoring indicator was the drug problem and influential people, with an average score of 4.58 points.
Ms. Pornpan Buathong, president of Suan Dusit Poll, commented that Prime Minister Paethongtarn’s increasing performance index is attributed to the government’s responsive actions to public issues, such as financial aid to vulnerable groups, flood relief, reducing electricity bills, and proactive problem-solving. This contrasts with the opposition’s declining performance score over the past 10 months, highlighting operational uncertainties despite public appreciation for their debates, which have not gained widespread attention.
