Train ticket purchases down to 36,100 on Saturday: KAI Jakarta

Today, as of noon there are 36,100 passengers. This data is very dynamic, because until evening, there are still ticket sales and the possibility of passengers addition

Jakarta At least 36,100 train tickets were purchased on Saturday compared to 39,000 the previous day, head of public relations of PT KAI area of operation 1, Jakarta, Eva Chairunisa informed.

“Today, as of noon there are 36,100 passengers. This data is very dynamic, because until evening, there are still ticket sales and the possibility of passengers addition,” she said here. On Saturday, 37 trains were operated from Gambir Station, with the number of passenger departures pegged at 13,900, and passenger arrivals at 3,493.

Meanwhile, 32 trains were operated from Pasar Senen Station, with 22,200 departures and 1,963 arrivals recorded.

Chairunisa predicted that there would be 500–1,000 additional passengers on Saturday, given the possibility of further ticket bookings.

On Friday (December 23), 38 thousand ticket purchases were recorded as of noon, but until the last train departure at night, it reached 39 thousand.

“For tomorrow, 31,000 tickets have already been ordered. We will see if there is a possibility of another increase. For the New Year 2023, if we look at the current ticket orders, it is likely that there will be another increase on D-2 or D-1 before the turn of the year,” she said.

Compared to last year’s figure, the number of passengers has doubled, she pointed out.

“Last year, a total of 18 days (December 22, 2022–January 8, 2021), there were around 190 thousand passengers, while this year, as of December 24, as many as 305 thousand tickets have been purchased. This means that, until today alone, (the number of purchased) tickets have exceeded last year’s. We predict that until year-end holidays end, there will be an increase by 2–3 times (compared to last year),” she added.
