True Bangkok United Narrowly Defeats Buriram United in Thrilling Thai League Clash


Bangkok: True Bangkok United beat Buriram United at home, while Rayong FC drew with BG Pathum United at home in the Thai League.

According to Thai News Agency, the Thai League 1 matchday 16 saw a big showdown between “Keng Thep” True Bangkok United, who are in second place, and “Prasat Sai Fa” Buriram United, the league leaders, at the BG Stadium. Buriram came into the match with an unbeaten league record stretching over 33 matches.

True Bangkok United took an early lead 14 minutes into the game with a goal from Bassel Jradi. Mohsen Al Ghassani doubled Bangkok’s advantage in the 39th minute, making it 2-0. However, Supachai Jaided scored for Buriram in stoppage time of the first half, reducing the deficit to 2-1.

In the second half, Buriram’s substitute Guilherme Bissoli headed in an equalizer from a corner kick in the 65th minute, bringing the score to 2-2. The match seemed destined for a draw until Nitipong Selanon scored a crucial goal for True Bangkok in the 90+2 minute, securing a 3-2 victory. This
win allowed Bangkok to collect three points, increasing their total to 33 points and narrowing the gap with Buriram United, who still lead the league with 39 points.

Meanwhile, at WHA Rayong Stadium, Rayong FC faced BG Pathum United. After a goalless first half, BG Pathum took the lead in the 48th minute when Sarach Yooyen crossed to Hwang Myung Hyun, who headed the ball into the net. Rayong FC equalized in the 87th minute with a goal from Aguinaldo, confirmed by a VAR review. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, leaving Rayong with 17 points in 14th place, still in the relegation zone, while BG Pathum United is ranked 4th with 26 points.
